Ramsay McCormack
At Ensley District Developers (EDD), we're leading the charge on the pivotal project of reconstructing the Ramsay McCormack Building. This monumental task serves as a catalyst for the revitalization of Ensley, AL, fostering a vibrant and thriving community in the process.
Our Mission
Ensley District Developers aims to go beyond building structures by leading efforts to reinvigorate communities. In partnership with local merchants, residents, and Birmingham city leaders, we are drafting long-term strategies for Ensley's economic and communal growth.
Ensley Reflections
Initially designed as a six-story tower by Erskine Ramsay and Carr McCormack in 1929, the iconic Ramsay McCormack Building became Ensley’s tallest building at ten stories. Located at Avenue E and 19th Street, the deconstruction of the tower in 2021 paved the way for new community development.
Ensley Rising
EDD worked closely with Ensley community residents and groups to decide the building's design and its role as a catalyst for the "Ensley Rising" initiative. The new Ramsay McCormack building is designed to inspire further development projects in the Ensley business district and its surrounding communities. Auburn University's Urban Studio, renowned for its expertise in urban planning, has also played a significant role in shaping the redevelopment plan. 2023 community meetings will be held for further discussions to maximize community impact.
Ensley Innovation
EDD's innovative plan assists in promoting Ensley as a lively logistics and entertainment hub, attracting new tenants, and strengthening current businesses. The reimagined Ramsay McCormack Building, infused with state-of-the-art technology, will also serve as an entrepreneurial hotspot, providing easy access to business services for the community and Birmingham.
